Malta 2005

Traditional Maori dancers at the Malta 2005 festivalThe first-ever performance by musicians from 'The Commonwealth Resounds! coincided with the first-ever performance in the Royal Commonwealth Society's brand-new Auditorium. A special Charity Gala Concert (pdf) was dedicated to victims from a recent earthquake disaster in Pakistan.

The beautiful Souvenir Programme (pdf) shows how Malta was an ideal setting for the first-ever partnerships and performances of The Commonwealth Resounds! Musicians were delighted to perform in the Manoel Theatre, Valletta, and in the Aurora Opera House, Gozo. They also collaborated with the Commonwealth People's Forum's exhibitions and events in the Mediterranean Centre, with other musicians in Malta, performed in Gallery G, Mdina, to 1,000 school children at De la Salle College and in Gozo Day's Closing Ceremony. The were generously accommodated by the Victoria Hotel and the Suncrest Hotel and by the Ministry for Culture, Sport and Tourism, who organised special transport for them to their performances around Malta.

The kindness and welcome shown to international musicians by the people of Malta and Gozo will always be appreciated and never forgotten.
