Western Australia
Both Danielle and Belinda are of UK heritage. Danielle born in the UK and Belinda born to English parents in Australia.
Belinda joined the Vocal Fusion Youth Choir as a committee member in 2023. Belinda primarily has a background in bookkeeping and administration, however her experience with events co-ordination in the UK for the Government of Western Australia & Tourism Commission, has given her the opportunity to see the young people in her hometown to grow and succeed through singing and performing. Belinda is self-confessed not amazing at singing herself but does love to hear the voices of the children and to watch them perform with the confidence that music brings out in them.
Danielle is the mastermind and creator of Vocal Fusion Youth Choir, based in Western Australia.
Growing up surrounded by music Danielle started singing and performing from a young age. Singing in school choirs and playing in various orchestras as a recorder player and cellist, in her teens travelling to America, Canada and Europe with the Southampton Pops Orchestra and playing with the Hampshire Recorder Symphonia.
It was her love of singing, Inspired by her late grandmother who was a Covent Garden Opera singer that saw Dani’s love for the genre grow as she trained under the wonderful Marion Shuster in the UK.
Having the opportunities to perform multiple times with the English Touring Opera Summer Program alongside her grandmother and mother ( also a singer and composer) will forever be a treasured memory, as well as many other fantastic performance opportunities including singing in the Royal Albert Hall, Paris National Opera House and Ho Chi Minh Conservatorium of Music.
Singing in multiple choirs in both England and Australia as Soloist and Chorus member Danielle had a great desire to bring Music and Singing to those Children who may not otherwise have the opportunities to experience the benefits and joy of community singing, thus Vocal Fusion Youth Choir came into existence.
It has been an honour and privilege to be a part of so many children’s lives, laying the foundation stones for their love of music that will hopefully be with them for their whole lives
The Vocal Fusion Youth Choir was founded in February 2016 as an extension of an adult choir. By 2023, it proudly became an incorporated association, highlighting its significant growth and independent identity. Catering to children aged 7 to 17, the choir has quickly become a beloved, non-auditioned, all-inclusive group. With a roster of 50 members from the Bunbury region and beyond, its members showcase extraordinary dedication by traveling from distant locations to rehearse and perform together.
Based at the Bunbury City Council’s Koolambidi Woola (Youth Precinct), the choir practices weekly, offering an affordable experience designed to make music accessible to all. Its philosophy centers around providing “amazing kids with amazing opportunities,” a commitment reflected in their impressive list of achievements. From being the sole choir from Western Australia at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations to representing Australia at the King’s Coronation Celebration Concert, their accolades are noteworthy. Participation in the Bunbury Eisteddfod, Dunsborough Songfest, and numerous community events further illustrates their commitment to excellence and community engagement.
Through their performances, VFYC not only showcases their musical talents but also fosters confidence, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging among its members. The choir’s focus on inclusivity and providing a platform for every child to shine is commendable, making it not just a choir, but a nurturing community that impacts young lives profoundly.
